The Jacksonville, FL plant team recently collected and donated water and Gatorade to the fire fighters working the West Mims forest fire. The plant employee engagement committee chair, Mary Tyo, brought the idea to the rest of the staff’s attention after hearing on the morning news about the need for refreshments for the fire fighters. The staff agreed it was a great idea, and Tyo quickly requested support from fellow engagement committee member, Tyrees Clark. Clark immediately jumped into action and spread the word to the entire Jacksonville plant team.
“This was a great JM Experience for the Jacksonville plant team due to their quick response to help support their community and local first responders,” added John Dodi, group plant manager.
As a result of Clark’s lightening call to action, within 48 hours the Jacksonville plant team collected and donated 34 cases of water and seven cases of Gatorade for the fire fighters working to contain the forest fire. The school that collected the donations was overwhelmed with joy as they had depleted all of their supplies for the fire fighters that very morning.
