The Scottsboro Community Service Committee participated at the annual Cancer Relay for Life event to help raise money for the local Cancer Society Chapter. The event was on May 5, 2017 and was scheduled from 6 p.m. to midnight; however, the event had to end around 9 p.m. due to the cold and rainy weather. The team sold tacos and hot chocolate and raised 300 dollars.
Jeff Maxson, Single Ply Group Plant Manager said, “JM Scottsboro has been a regional partner with “Relay for Life” for many years. I’m proud to say that our plant was recognized, in 2016, for donating the most money of any local business. We proudly continue our partnership into 2017 and beyond with an expanding number of JM employees participating in support of this worthy cause.”
Throughout the year the team also sold meat sticks and raffle items, and also held the annual Bowling for a Cure event at a local bowling alley. With all of the fundraising events the team raised a total of 5,120 dollars.
