Jonas Houchin Named New Roofing Institute Trainer

Jonas Houchin has been promoted to the Application and Innovation Engineering Manager within the Technical Services group. In this role, Jonas will have responsibility for all internal and external training at our Rockdale Training Center as well as developing test methods and apparatus for evaluation of roofing installations. Jonas will also partner with Product Engineering and Technical Services to determine and design real world application procedures that make JM the preferred vendor in the marketplace including the testing of innovative products and application methods that can be integrated into future roofing systems for JM.

Jonas began his career with JM in 2005 as a Technical Representative in St. Louis, MO. In 2007, Jonas moved into the Codes Manager role where he was responsible for FM and UL Code testing. In 2012, Jonas was promoted to Technical Lead Engineer responsible for the field technical team in the Pacific District as well as innovation testing for Roofing Systems.

Jonas has a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from the University of Oklahoma .

Jonas will split his time between the Rockdale Training Center and the Johns Manville Technical Center. He and Todd Nathan, JM's Director of Technical Services, have redesigned the JM Roofing Institute training events to add benefit to the single ply sessions. TPO, PVC and EPDM training events will now take place in the same week. Trainees now have the option to attend the TPO/PVC and EPDM training separately or stay the entire week to attend both.
