On March 6th and 7th, the Scottsboro, Alabama plant hosted the 6th annual TPO Spring Training. This training was made possible through the teamwork of sales representative John McNicholas, Jonas Houchin, the southeast technical team, Jeff Maxson, Terry Couch, and the team at the Scottsboro plant. “We selected these dates because it is a slower time and more contractors are able to attend during this time of year” stated McNicholas. Over the course of the two-day training, the 60 attendees were shown JM best practices when it comes to plant operations, they participated in technical hands-on training, and covered sales information on products to help them secure more JM projects. The training is offered to contractors who are located within two or three hours of the plant; among the contractors and national accounts that attended this year’s event, three were JM Pinnacle Contractors, two were JM Summit Contractors, seven were JM Peak Contractors and one was a National Account.
To start this year’s training, the team did a safety review and a tour of the plant followed by an overview presentation of the TPO materials and accessories that were the focus on the training. Following the presentation, they started the hands-on training. The training is very in-depth and lasts approximately 4 hours so that all attendees walk away with the knowledge to properly install all materials and experience ease of installation. “The purpose of this two-day training,” stated McNicholas, “is to teach contractors how to do the best job possible and to help them feel comfortable installing JM products.”
The team is always looking to improve the training to ensure attendees get the most out of the two days at the plant. The overall goal is to help contractors get comfortable with JM products and to help reduce issues with installations. This year’s event was a success and the team is looking forward to the 7th annual TPO Spring Training in 2019.
