2022 Earth Day – Invest in Our Planet

Our core value, PROTECT, aligns with this year’s national Earth Day theme - Invest in our Planet. Protecting our customers, employees, families and the world around us is our responsibility.
At our office in Littleton, Colorado, our JM Green Team focuses on ways that our employees can be more sustainable both at work and at home. In 2016, the team started it’s first beehive. In past years, a JM employee was managing the beekeeping for two beehives on campus. There were some years that the hive would thrive and other years where it did not. In 2021, the team decided to sign on with a company to manage a new hive, Best Bees. Having a bee hive on is one small but impactful initiative that we can do to support our future and the growth of the environment. See it in action here:

The Best Bees company also provides us with a break down of the pollen from our hive. It is really informational on what local plant provide the best pollonation for our little bee hive.
Other activities you and your company can do for Earth day is schedule a local cleanup, donate lightly used pet supplies to a local pet shelter, host a e-waste recycling day, find or start a little free library, participate in a community garden, recycle junk mail, and more. There are also little every-day things that you can start doing at home such as composting, switching out paper towels for Swedish dish cloths and bamboo “paper” products, using detergent sheets instead of the liquid or powder, and switching to shampoo/conditioner bars instead of buying bottles. Fun fact, bamboo is the fastest-growing plant on Earth.
