For the seventh straight year, Johns Manville won the Corporate Manufacturing division trophy at the Denver Colfax Marathon. The co-ed marathon relay team “3fast2furious JMer’s” composed of Johns Manville employees Priscilla Woodward, Annie Oberheide, Kris Swygert, Bradley Crume and Jacob Heaps placed ahead of Coors Brewery and Lignetics in the division.
This is the 10th year Johns Manville-sponsored teams and individuals have placed at the marathon.
Johns Manville had 36 runners competing in various events on May 21. Three employees ran the Urban 10 mile, eight ran the half marathon and the remaining members composed the five relay teams that competed in the Corporate Manufacturing division of the marathon.
“There are so many benefits to the Colfax Marathon – community engagement, team spirit, physical and mental health benefits, leadership and meeting fellow employees from across JM, to name a few,” said Johns Manville Chairman Mary Rhinehart, who came out to support the runners.
As the winning team, “3fast2furious JMer’s” get to donate $1,500 to the charity of their choice. The JMers chose to donate to No Kill Colorado, a non-profit organization whose mission is to make Colorado a safe place for homeless pets.
“The team wanted to choose a nonprofit that supported animals,” Priscilla said. “I guess we really love our pets!”
After the races, employees gathered for snacks and to share their race experiences.
“I thought everything went great! It was well organized, and our team had easy hand-offs. It was fun gathering with our Johns Manville runners at City Park after the run,” said Senior Commercial Excellence Specialist Jeff Tuccy.
