Features

Expand-O-Gard expansion joints are flexible waterproof closures for vertical building walls designed to accommodate movement between building components caused by thermal, settlement, wind, flex and seismic forces. Each Expand-O-Gard cover is a combination of a flexible rubber membrane, with two metal flanges, adhesively and mechanically combined to the bellows by a patented bifurcation process.

Bellows: 

  • Widths: 4" - 12" (10.16 cm - 30.48 cm) Standard (Special sizes are available up to 54" [1.37 m] wide) 
  • Membrane:  EPDM 
  • Thickness: 0.060" (1.52 mm) 
  • Colors: Black or White - premium priced and available upon request. 
  • Closed Cell Support Foam Thickness varies from 0.375" - 0.75" (9.53 mm to 19.1 mm) depending on bellows width. 

Flange*: 

  • Aluminum**: .032" (0.81 mm) 
  • Copper: 16 oz. (0.56 mm) Galvanized Steel2 : 26 ga. (0.56 mm) 
  • Stainless Steel: .018" (0.46 mm) folded to .036" (0.91 mm)
  • *Other metals are available upon request. 
  • **Available in Kynar® finish colored upon request. Kynar® is a registered trademark of Arkema, Inc.

Styles: 

  • WS = For masonry construction, metal buildings and panel wall systems where flanges are concealed and/or sandwiched within the wall system. 
  • F = For joints between new and existing vertical walls, between curtain walls and glass atriums, and other vertical building walls where the flange is part of the closure design.
