The United States has enacted a number of “domestic preference” laws requiring the federal government to procure goods manufactured in the United States. The most prominent domestic preference laws are the Buy American Act (BAA) and the Build America, Buy America Act (BABAA), which require that all iron, steel, manufactured products, and construction materials used in covered infrastructure projects are produced in the United States.
